How to Use OBDwiz Professional Add-On to Diagnose Your Car
OBDwiz is a software that comes with every ScanTool.net PC-based scan tool. It allows you to connect your car to your computer and perform various diagnostic functions, such as reading and clearing trouble codes, viewing live data, and performing on-board tests. OBDwiz is easy to install, use, and customize. It can also be used as a digital dashboard to display real-time parameters on your screen.
If you want to enhance the capabilities of OBDwiz, you can purchase the Professional Add-On for $44.95. The Professional Add-On gives you access to more features and additional diagnostics, such as:
Enhanced graphing: You can overlap multiple signals, add unlimited graphs, zoom, pan, and use cursors. You can also customize the appearance of the graphs.
Calculated PIDs: You can view calculated parameters such as boost pressure, air-to-fuel ratio, engine power, engine torque, and vehicle acceleration.
Data mapping: You can view the value of one parameter based on two independent parameters. For example, you can see how the engine load changes with respect to the throttle position and the engine speed.
Software sensor calibration: You can offset or scale any vehicle parameter and compensate for oversized tires.
Custom and enhanced PIDs: You can create your own PIDs as a combination of vehicle PIDs or import manufacturer enhanced PIDs. For example, you can view cylinder misfire count, knock retard, or transmission fluid temperature for some GM and Ford vehicles.
On-board tests: You can perform on-board tests such as evaporative system leak test or diesel particulate filter regeneration.
Custom trouble code definitions: You can define custom descriptions for trouble codes that are displayed when reading codes.

In this article, we will show you how to use OBDwiz Professional Add-On to perform some common diagnostic tasks. You will need a ScanTool.net PC-based scan tool, a Windows computer, and a vehicle that supports OBD2.
How to Read and Clear Trouble Codes
Trouble codes are stored in your vehicle's computer when a problem is detected. They can help you identify the cause of the check engine light or other warning indicators. To read and clear trouble codes with OBDwiz Professional Add-On, follow these steps:
Connect your scan tool to your vehicle's OBD2 port. The port is usually located under the dashboard on the driver's side.
Connect your scan tool to your computer via USB cable or Bluetooth.
Launch OBDwiz and select your scan tool from the Connection menu.
Click on the Diagnostics tab and then click on Read Codes.
OBDwiz will display the trouble codes and their descriptions in a table. You can sort the table by clicking on the column headers. You can also view more information about each code by clicking on it.
To clear the trouble codes, click on Clear Codes. OBDwiz will ask you to confirm your action. Click Yes to proceed.
OBDwiz will send a command to your vehicle's computer to erase the trouble codes. It will also turn off the check engine light if it was on.
Note that clearing the trouble codes does not fix the problem that caused them. You should use the trouble codes as a guide to diagnose and repair the problem. Otherwise, the codes may reappear after driving for a while.
How to View Live Data
Live data are real-time parameters that are measured by your vehicle's sensors and systems. They can help you monitor your vehicle's performance, fuel economy, emissions, and more. To view live data with OBDwiz Professional Add-On, follow these steps:
Connect your scan tool to your vehicle's OBD2 port and your computer.
Launch OBDwiz and select your scan tool from the Connection menu.
Click on the Sensors tab and then click on Start.
OBDwiz will display the live data in a table. You can sort the table by clicking on the column headers. You can also view more information about each parameter by clicking on it.
To view the live data in a graph, click on the Graphs tab and then click on Add Graph. You can select one or more parameters to graph by checking their boxes in the list. You can also customize the appearance of the graph by clicking on Options.
To view the live data in a data map, click on the Data Map tab and then click on Add Data Map. You can select one parameter as the dependent variable and two parameters as the independent variables by choosing them from the drop-down menus. You can also customize the appearance of the data map by clicking on Options.
To stop viewing live data, click on Stop.
Note that not all parameters are supported by all vehicles. OBDwiz will only display the parameters that are available for your vehicle. aa16f39245
